Overview: This course is about an awareness of the dangers presented by the use of alcohol and other drugs in the workplace.

We examine the impact of alcohol and drugs can have on you, and how you can identify ways to prevent drug and alcohol-related incidents in the workplace. This will, in turn, reduce the harm and risks associated with alcohol and drug use in the workplace and promote safe behaviours at work.

We examine also why alcohol and drugs become a problem in the workplace and what you can do to help avoid the risks associated with alcohol and drug usage.

Why is this course important? Alcohol and drugs cost Australian workplaces an estimated $6 billion per year in lost productivity. The use of alcohol and other drugs can impact on workplaces in a number of ways, affecting relationships, safety and productivity. All workplaces should promote a safe culture and workers are expected to recognise and practice appropriate behaviours.
