Information Security: Phishing awareness

Overview: This course delves into the various ways criminals 'phish', that is, use deceptive methods to extract logins, data and sensitive information about organisations and their employees, by tricking employees to reveal this information. 

We will look at why criminals use phishing attacks and their methods of deception (including email, phone and text). We also examine links and URLs, how to identify authentic URLs and inform employees of ways criminals 'phish' so that they are able to recognise a phishing attack and avoid falling for it.

Why is this course important? Phishing attacks are on the rise and, because they target employees rather than directly attacking software or hardware. In this element of information security, it is employees who are both the barrier and weakness.
