Overview: This course is about unconscious bias, including what it is and why it happens. We explore the workplace consequences of acting on such biases, which include impairing diversity and negatively affecting retention rates, and why it’s important to build awareness of unconscious biases. We identify five types of unconscious bias and strategies to help you overcome potential bias in your thinking and decision making. We also examine issues of unconscious bias in both the recruitment and retention of employees in your organisation.

Why is this course important? Without being aware of our thoughts, we can easily come to believe in social stereotypes. We see what we expect to see in someone, rather than who they actually are. We become biased. Even worse, we’re then likely to act on those biases and - even without realising it - discriminate against other people.

Suitable for: All managers and supervisors, or anyone involved in talent management processes.
