Overview: This course is part of the five-part Working with AI series, building directly on Fluency Foundations. It explains why AI has made deception, deepfakes, cloned voices, and AI-amplified misinformation far more convincing and far more common than they used to be. The course also shows what these look like when they reach an ordinary workplace rather than a headline. You will learn which warning signs still hold up as the technology improves and which have already gone stale, and you will build a three-part verification habit (checking through a second channel, tracing content back to its source, and pausing on urgency) to help you, regardless of how convincing a fake becomes.

Why is this course important? AI-generated deception is no longer rare or confined to high-profile targets, and it specifically exploits the same trust cues people rely on every day: a familiar face, a familiar voice, a request that fits the situation. Relying on spotting a glitch is a losing strategy, since that kind of advice ages badly as the technology improves. A verification habit that doesn't depend on detecting anything about the fake protects you and your organisation far more reliably and stays useful long after this course is out of date.
