Overview: This course covers how to use AI well when preparing and running a performance review: what’s reasonable to let AI help draft, summarise, or structure, and what judgement has to stay with you regardless of how good the draft looks. It covers how to audit AI-drafted content for bias before it goes anywhere near a formal review, and what to tell an employee about AI’s role in their own review. It also gives a brief, practical orientation to the regulatory backdrop in Australia, New Zealand, and internationally, since AI use in decisions affecting someone’s pay or employment is increasingly expected to be visible and accountable.

Why is this course important? AI is already saving managers real time in performance management. But employees remain wary of it and most want a human’s judgement to lead the process rather than a system. Getting this wrong, risks an unfair or poorly evidenced review shaping someone’s pay, promotion, or standing and increasingly risks falling short of what regulators expect organisations to know and disclose about how they use AI in decisions like these.

Suitable for: Managers who prepare or deliver performance reviews for their team. It assumes you’ve already completed Critical Thinking in the AI Era and AI Governance for Managers.
